The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is building a new casino named Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa'am in downtown Tucson at West Grant Road near Interstate 10. The grand opening will be in early 2027. The 73,000 square-foot facility will feature Class-III slot machines, table games, a high-limit room, a sportsbook, restaurant, food court, and 1,050-space parking garage.

Vahi Taa'am is pronounced vah-hee tah-ahm meaning "Three Suns" and representing light, renewal, and a bright future.

Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa'am

The new Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa'am is located near the Tribe's historical home of Old Pascua ("Pascua Village"). In 2021 Congress passed The Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition Act (H.R. 4881), which allowed the land and community of Old Pascua to be taken into federal trust. The transfer grants tribal sovereignty to the land.

Location
The address of the Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa'am is 1055 W. Grant Road in Tucson. The location is east of Interstate 10 along West Grant Road on the former site of the Century Park 16 movie theater. The theater was demolished and cleared for construction in March 2023.

Timeline
Construction is scheduled for two phases. Phase 1 will be the construction of the casino including the restaurants, food court, bars, and a parking garage. The groundbreaking for the casino was Jan. 13, 2025. The casino construction is expected to take two years to complete with the grand opening celebrated in early 2027. Phase 2 will follow with building a hotel, conference center, and another parking garage.

Casino Approvals
The Tucson casino has federal, state and local approvals to offer Class III slot machines and table games. In 2021, Governor Doug Ducey amended the state's gaming compact with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. The new agreement allows development of the Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa'am on the Old Pascua land.

Pascua Yaqui Tribe
The new casino is the third casino owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. The tribe owns two other casinos in the Tucson area, the Casino del Sol at 5655 West Valencia Road and the Casino of the Sun at 7406 S. Camino del Oeste.
