Tribal leaders of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe are planning to add sports betting to the Ute Mountain Casino located in Towaoc, Colorado in the southwest corner of the state.
Plans are underway now to design and build a special area dedicated to sports betting. The target date for opening the new venue is May 1, 2020. Tribal leaders are seeking to partner with a sportsbook operator with the hardware and software needed for the casino. The partner will require approval by the National Indian Gaming Commission.
Colorado became the 19th state to authorize sports betting when voters approved a sports-wagering ballot measure in last November's election.
There has been no announcement regarding similar plans for a sports book from Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio, Colorado.
