Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City opened August 1, 2014. It is a $128 million casino built by the partnership of the Missouri River Historical Development and SCE Partners LLC.
In July 2016 the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission uapproved a $6.5 million expansion to add 7,857 square feet, 60 more slot machines and two additional blackjack tables. The expansions was completed and open to the public in June 2017.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Sioux City plans a $895K renovation project to create new space for a sports wagering lobby. The plan requires about 400 square feet.
A portion of the new sports book space will be taken from the wine bar and the remainder from the high-limit gaming room. Both areas currently total 8,000 square feet.
Legalized sports betting in Iowa was signed into law in May by Gov. Kim Reynolds. It covers most professional and college sports
Rules for regulating Iowa sports betting are being written by the Racing and Gaming Commission and should be finalized by August. That will be in time for the NFL and college football seasons.
