Grand Portage Lodge & Casino completed a multi-million renovation in July 2018. The three-year project upgraded the 90 guest rooms and 5 suites at the lodge, doubled the size of the casino floor, and added a larger banquet and meeting center with seating for 400 people. The property is owned by the Grand Portage Chippewa.

On Thursday, July 12 a celebration was held at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino. The gala was held in honor of the competition of the newly renovated lodge and casino. As part of the celebration, there were speeches, drum song, and the sharing of sharing of a ceremonial pipe.
In order for the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino to reopen there was a plan put in place that involved three phases that would take three years to complete.
The celebration for the newly renovated lodge and casino also included a ribbon cutting. Members of the Grand Portage Tribal Council did the honors.
The multi-million dollar renovation and expansion project was developed as a way to help provide a better experience for guests. The updates would help to become a destination and a first-class resort.
The casino offers a 15,000 square foot gaming floor. There are over 450 slot machines. There is also a completely coinless system offered for the games being called a Ticket In Ticket Out. The gaming environment also offers table games. The casino operates Progressive Three Card Poker and blackjack.
The lodge offers 95 guest rooms. There are five suites with Jacuzzis and fireplaces. An indoor swimming pool and sauna.
There are two restaurants on the property. They are the Island View restaurant and the Casino Deli. There is also a bar, Antlers Lounge.
The Grand Portage Lodge and Casino is located about 140 miles northeast of Duluth and near the Canadian border.

A grand opening is being held this weekend at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino. It is being held in celebration of the newly completed renovation project that took place there.
Grand Portage Lodge and Casino opened nearly two years ago. This completes the third phase of expansion for the facility.
the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa are the owners and operators of the lodge and casino.
The project involved the renovation of the restaurant and lounge. 95 guest rooms have also been refreshed. It also added a new pool complex, event center, and meeting rooms. Also, the expansion of the casino floor.
425 slot machines will be in operation on the casino floor. As well as table games. This will include three card poker and blackjack.
The ribbon cutting will be held at 2 p.m. on July 12. The first 500 players will receive a special gift. On July 13 a barbecue will be held. The event is free and will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other offerings during the weekend long celebration will be breakfast specials, free gaming, entertainment, and drawings.
Grand Portage is a small community located near Lake Superior. It is just under three hours from Duluth. Also, under an hour south of Thunder Bay in Ontario.
With the completion of the project, the tribe feels confident that they will be able to secure the future of employment for their people. As well as create more jobs in the future.
