Prairie's Edge Casino opens smoke-free expansion

Prairie's Edge Casino will be celebrating the grand opening of its new smoke-free addition from June 24 to 28. This new $4.7 million expansion is a two-story, 22,000-square-foot addition with its own air ventilation system and its own doors separating itself from the main casino, the convention center and the hotel.

This smoke-free gaming area has 150 new slot machines with extra room to add more in the future.

The new Prairie Tap House and Cafe is open weekdays at 11AM and Sat-Sun at 10AM. It offers 24 draft beers, casual food, music and live entertainment several times a week from 8pm till midnight.

The Prairie Tap House and Cafe are on the main floor where you can also watch the Viking and Twin games on a 16' x 8' high-resolution TV screen.

The second floor has the Sunset Lounge & Patio serving sixteen draft beers. The patio is a large, outdoor patio built on the roof.

With this new addition Prairie's Edge Casino Resort can now boast that it has the largest non-smoking gaming area in the state.

Prairie's Edge Casino begins construction on new non-smoking addition

September 15, 2018

The Prairie's Edge Casino Resort has started the 20,000 square foot expansion project. The casino is located near Granite Falls.

The expansion will be completely smoke free. Guests will have dining option, two bars, entertainment stage, and slot machines in a non-smoking environment. There will also be a new banquet room added to the smoke free area. The HVAC ventilation system will be its own system. Separate from the rest of the casino.

The main level bar will offer 24 different draft beers. The second bar will be located on the second level and offer 16 different draft beers.

Once finished, this will be Minnesota's largest gaming area that is smoke free.

On July 23 construction for the expansion project started. The end of April 2019 is when the project is expected to be completed.

New Comedy Club Opens at Prairie's Edge Casino Resort

Prairie's Edge Casino Resort announced today that it is opening Sunset Comedy Club, which will hold its first show on Thursday, June 2. The new venue will seat approximately 200 guests in an intimate setting with a bar and cocktail tables. The Sunset Comedy Club will feature headliners that have appeared on late night television, HBO, Comedy Central, "Last Comic Standing," "America's Got Talent," and other national shows. Each performance will start at 7 p.m. and last approximately 70 minutes with an opening act and a headliner.

"Every seat in the venue has a great view of the comedians. It really is a great place to have a laugh with someone special at a table for two or celebrate a birthday with a table for six or more," said Barry Joannide, general manager, Prairie's Edge Casino Resort. "These shows will appeal to adults of all ages."

Issac Witty, who is a nationally known headlining comedian, will open the Sunset Comedy Club on Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. Witty has performed on stages and comedy festivals across the nation and has appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman" and "Conan."

On Thursday, June 16, Jeff Gerbino, who has appeared on "Good Morning America," will perform at 7 p.m. Minneapolis native "Fancy" Ray McCloney will perform on Thursday, July 7. McCloney is the self-proclaimed "Best Looking Man in Comedy" and ran against Jesse Ventura for governor of Minnesota.
