Dakota Magic Casino is located on the North and South Dakota border about an hour south of Fargo. Take exit 1 on Interstate 29.

Dakota Magic is one of three casinos owned by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. The other two are the Dakota Connection Casino in Sisseton, SD and the Dakota Sioux Casino in Watertown, SD.

Dakota Nation Sportsbook to open at Dakota Magic Casino

Dakota Magic Casino is preparing to open the Dakota Nation Sportsbook inside its location in Hankinson, North Dakota, an hour south of Fargo. The sportsbook will include a "Vegas-style" lounge with wall-to-wall video screen, leather chairs, drinks and a limited menu.

Sports betting is expected to begin within the next few days at Dakota Magic. However, the sports lounge will open later in the month or early January. Bets can be placed on professional and college sports using kiosks or teller windows.

Dakota Magic Casino will be the first casinos owned by the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe to open a Dakota Nation Sportsbook. The Tribe also plans to add the Dakota Nation Sportsbook to its two casinos in South Dakota: Dakota Connection Casino in Sisseton, SD and the Dakota Sioux Casino in Watertown, SD. South Dakota's Commission on Gaming approved sports betting last May.

Dakota Magic opens first phase of its expansions

A new project to expand the Dakota Magic Casino has been announced. The casino is located in Hankinson. Plans for the project include smoke ventilation improvements and making the casino game floor larger.

The Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe own the casino. On Monday the tribe and officials for the casino hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony.

There are currently five expansion projects scheduled to take place at the casino. This will be the first of those phases.

The larger casino floor will help the casino accommodate more table games, over 900 slot machines, and a slot room for high limit play. A new restaurant, Twin Buffalo Grill, and a lounge will also be added. Also a Players Club, a private VIP lounge, and a cashier. When finished the casino floor will be over 30,000 square feet.

A new deli and new bathrooms are scheduled to open in the next few weeks.

The expansion is necessary for the casino. The building is older and is crowded with guests. The larger game floor will not only allow for more games, but also more space around the games. It will allow for more space to make the guests more comfortable.

Currently there are about 1,000 guests that visit the Dakota Magic Casino every day. Once the expansion project is completed, it is estimated that the number of daily visitors will increase as well.

About one year is the estimated time frame to complete this phase of the casino project.
