The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma is seeking an ownership share and the operational role for a $3.4 billion casino proposal for Coney Island.
The Chickasaw have partnered with Thor Equities, Saratoga Casino Hotel, and Legends Hospitality Group to propose a $3.4 billion casino complex next to the Coney Island amusement park. The group is one of eight remaiining applicants seeking a downstate gaming license.
The casino named "The Coney" would comprise 1.3 million square feet with a casino, 500-room hotel, restaurants, convention center, retail, event space, and 1,500-space parking.

The Chickasaw Nation owns the largest casino in the world, the Winstar World Casino and Resort, located in Oklahoma on the Texas border. The tribe operates 23 casinos and is the 13th largest Native American tribe in the nation.
Applicants
New York State will issue three downstate casino licenses by the end of this year. The current number of qualified applicants seeking one of those licenses is down to eight.

The Chickasaw own and operate the largest casino in the world, the Winstar World Casino and Resort, located in Oklahoma. The Chickasaw would manage the operation of the Coney Island casino if approve for a state casino license.

The first of two public hearings for a proposed $3 billion casino and resort dubbed "The Coney" was held last week at the Coney Island YMCA. During the meeting there were very strong opinions voiced by local residents both in favor and in opposition of the plan.

If the Coney Island Casino proposal is approved and licensed by the state, the casino will be managed and operated by the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma. The tribe is also a financial partner in the project and owns the WinStar World Casino in Oklahoma, the world's largest casino.
The Coney will be 1.3 million square feet casino, hotel and entertainment complex that will include a casino, 500-room hotel, a convention center, and a concert venue.
