Cherokee Nation plans new Bartlesville casino

July 27, 2024

On June 1, 2024 the Cherokee Nation filed an application with the U.S. Bureau of Indian affairs for approval to build an Indian-gaming casino on a 15,000-acre site owned by the tribe on U.S. Highway 75 just south of Bartlesville, OK.

Cherokee Nation Businesses believes Bartlesville is a good location for the new casino.

"It's a good location; it has access to good roads and good transportation options, as well as there are a lot of residents. We think that the Bartlesville area, in general, has the capacity to have demand for that facility as well."

- Chuck Garrett, CEO Cherokee Nation Businesses

The federal approval process could be finalized as early as next Spring. Cherokee officials are hopeful they can start construction in June 2025.

If approved and built, the Cherokee Casino Bartlesville would be the tenth Cherokee casino and the second Bartlesville casino along with the nearby Osage Casino Hotel
