The Golden Mesa Casino officially opened September 12, 2019. It is located two miles southwest of Guymon in the Oklahoma panhandle.
In 2017 the Shawnee Tribe has announced plans to build this casino, the first casino in the Panhandle. The casino site was 107 acres of off-reservation land near Guymon, Oklahoma.
After a lengthy review process, the Shawnee Tribe was granted final approval to build the casino. The U.S. Secretary of the Interior signed off on February 2, 2017 followed by Gov. Fallin's approval on February 7, 2017.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in May 2018 and construction was completed in September 2019. Also see Grand Opening

The new Golden Mesa Casino officially opened September 12, 2019.
The grand opening was attended by public officials, dignitaries and tribal leaders including Shawnee Chief Ron Sparkman, Shawnee Chief-Elect Ben Barnes and Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby.
Shawnee Chief Ron Sparkman said:
"Today marks an historic day for Guymon, the entire Oklahoma Panhandle and the Shawnee Tribe. The opening of Golden Mesa Casino positions this region as an emerging entertainment and tourism destination as we expect this casino entertainment center to bring visitors from Texas, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico."
Golden Mesa Casino is located in the Oklahoma panhandle, two miles southwest of Guymon. It is a 40,000-square-foot casino with 600 gaming machines.

The Shawnee Tribe, in partnership with the Chickasaw Nation, has completed the construction of its $25 million casino in Guymoon, OK. The grand opening is scheduled for Sept 12. A celebration will include brief speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Golden Mesa Casino has a 20,206 square-foot gaming floor with 600 electronic gaming machines and 6 table games. The total building size is 42,000 square feet and includes the casino gaming floor, a diner, retail space and tribal offices.
The Shawnee Tribe tribal regained federal recognition in 2000 and later purchased 107-acres of off-reservation land as a casino site subject to federal approval. The land is located 2 miles soutwest of Guymon.
The U.S. Interior Department gave approval for the casino on February 2, 2017, which was followed soon afterwards with state approval on February 7, 2017.

Approval has been given to put 102.98 acres into trust so that the Shawnee Tribe can build a future casino.
The approval came on Friday. The land is in the Oklahoma Panhandle near the city of Guymon.
It is estimated that the casino will generate $30 million a year for the tribe. 200 jobs will also be created for the area.
The casino will be 42,000 square feet. The space will fit a casino gaming floor of 20,206 square feet, retail area, a restaurant, and offices for the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission.
