Win-River Casino relocation is opposed by Redding City Council
The Redding City Council voted unanimously last week to oppose the relocation of the Win-River Casino to a new site owned by the Redding Rancheria at Interstate 5, south of Bonneyview Road. The new Win-River Casino would include a hotel, convention center, event center and an outdoor amphitheater.
Council Member Tenessa Audette explained the council received a petition with 6,000 signatures and 500 emails in opposition to the move.
"The overwhelming arguments are about agriculture. That land is really valuable agricultural land. It's very close to the river, so people are worried about what that will do to the fish and wildlife in the area as well as the flood plain."

The Redding City Council will now send a letter explaining its opposition to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which will make the final decision regarding the Win-River Casino relocation.
