Graton Resort & Casino is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. The casino resort opened on Nov. 5, 2013. In a press release, Graton thanked its 50 million casino visitors over the past decade, and thanked its 2,000 team members for making Graton the "best of the best". Graton is the second largest employer in Sonoma County,

Each year Graton Resort & Casino and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria contributes millions of dollars to community organizations. Employees receive paid Volunteer Days to help local programs, such as food banks, animal shelters, Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and others.
As the second decade begins, Graton Resort & Casino has started a $1 billion expansion project to add a hotel wing and enlarge the casino floor. When completed, Graton will be the second largest casino in California.

Two months after the groundbreaking for the $1B expansion project at Graton Resort & Casino, the construction is underway with site preparation and grading for the new five-level parking structure.

Since the expansion project was announced in June, the casino has made two important announcements.
Management
Graton Resort & Casino has appointed Lana Rivera to the newly-created President role. She will spearheading the expansion project at Graton. Additionally, Brian Green has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee the day-to-day operations and assist President Rivera with the casino's expansion project.

New Support Agreement with Rohnert Park
To offset the financial impact of the expanded Graton Resort & Casino on the city government, a new agreement has been negotiated between the tribe and Rohnert Park. Graton Rancheria will pay a one-time $3.9 million payment for several road project needed for increased traffic resulting from the expansion. These include:
Improvements to the U.S. 101 north offramp at Commerce Boulevard.
Additional turn lanes at Rohnert Park Expressway and Redwood Drive.
New right-turn lane at Golf Course Drive and Redwood Drive.
Additional second left turn lane at the U.S. 101 south offramp at Golf Course Drive.
Automated traffic monitoring system for control of traffic signals west of Highway 101.
In addition, Graton Rancheria will continue paying an $13.3 million annual fee to be adjusted for inflation. Funds are allocated by the city as follows:
$4.05 million to mitigate cost on traffic, public safety, stormwater and other city services resulting from the casino operations
$6.6 million to mitigate any other costs not covered by the above contribution
$1.3 million for workforce housing and neighborhood upgrades within one mile of the casino
$1.3 million to the Rohnert Park Foundation to help community projects in the city

Graton Casino starts construction today on $1B expansion

Construction of a massive, $1 billion expansion project at Graton Resort & Casino begins today. The project will double the size of the casino and hotel making Graton the second largest casino resort in California by 2025.
Yesterday the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony on the southeast parking lot of the casino where construction will begin today on a five-level parking garage. The structure will include solar panels, EV charging stations, a pedestrian walkway to the casino, and capacity for 1,500 vehicles.

We've been working on these plans for several years, and we're excited to create new job opportunities here in Sonoma County."

$1B PROJECT SUMMARY
The casino will add 144,000 square feet, 2,000 new slot machines, a new poker room, and a new high-limit area.
A new hotel wing will add with 200 rooms.
A rooftop restaurant will provide indoor and outdoor seating for 480 guests.
A 3,500-seat theater will host live entertainment.
A five-level parking structure will accomodate 1,500 vheicles.
Graton Resort & Casino is owned and operated by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria.
Within a few weeks Graton Resort & Casino will break ground on a massive construction project to double the size of its casino and double its number of hotel rooms. When completed in early 2026, Graton Resort & Casino will be the second largest in California after Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel.
The groundbreaking ceremony for this expansion project is expected later this month. See expansion plan details.
Last week the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the project after updating its agreement with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. The tribe agrees to pay the county an additional $5 million annually after the expansion is completed.
Rohnert Park is also negotiating an updated agreement with the tribe to support the additional needs of the expansion project. The city currently receives about $16 million annually from Graton Casino.
Earlier this year the State of California ratified a new gaming compact for Graton Casino. The 25-year agreement authorizes the casino to increase in the total number of slot machines from 3,000 to 6,000.

Graton Resort and Casino to become 2nd largest in California

Graton Resort and Casino plans a huge expansion of its casino and hotel which will double its size into the second largest casino resort in California behind Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel. Graton will add more than 1.2 million square feet of new construction for additional casino space, another hotel wing, a rooftop restaurant, and a theater. Construction will take 18 months and will start later this year pending final state and federal approvals.
Casino: The casino floor will be expanded to the east with an additional 86,000 square feet. The new space will host 3,000 more slot machines and 20 gaming tables.
Hotel: A new 6-story wing with 221 rooms will be added south of the existing hotel. Total rooms will be 421. The new wing will include a new pool area.
Rooftop Restaurant: A large rooftop restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate a total of 480 guests. Total size will be 28,000 square feet.
Theater: A new 3,500-seat theater for live entertainment will be built on the north side of the casino.
Parking Structure: A new parking structure will be built on the eastern side of the property and connect to the casino with a pedestrian walkway. The structure will be 5-stories with 1,500 vehicle spaces.

Graton Resort and Casino may now double its slot machines

Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a new gaming compact with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, which authorizes the tribe to double the number of total slot machines at Graton Resort and Casino. The casino currently operates 3,000 slot machines. The new agreement will now go to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior for final approval.
Last year Graton Resort & Casino announced plans to add 144,000 square feet to the casino's gaming area (45% increase). The Graton expansion project also includes a new 5-story hotel tower with 221 guest rooms, a rooftop restaurant, a 3,500-seat theater, and a 5-level parking garage.
The new state-tribe compact is a 25-year agreement that also provides additional casino payments into the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund (RSTF), which supports limited and non-gaming California tribes, and pays 2% of net wins to the Sonoma County and Rohnert Park.
