The new footage shows continued progress on the casino's exterior, including facade work, structural finishing, and the installation of the first branded signage panels. The signage marks one of the most visible construction developments to date and signals the project's transition into its next phase of exterior completion.
The $400 million casino resort is being built along Highway 99 between Avenue 17 and Avenue 18-1/2 in Madera County. Once complete, the property will feature a 100,000-square-foot gaming floor, more than 2,400 slot machines, 40 table games, multiple dining venues, and a future 200-room hotel planned for a later phase.
Opening Timeline
The tribe continues to promote a 2026 opening, with the most recent official messaging indicating Fall 2026. No specific opening date has been announced. Construction activity remains steady on the 61-acre site, with exterior work, infrastructure development, and interior preparation progressing in parallel.
Legal Context
The project continues under federal authorization, which has been upheld through multiple court challenges. However, a December 2025 ruling by the California Fifth District Court of Appeal invalidated the state-level approvals tied to the gaming compact. The California Supreme Court declined review earlier this year, leaving the appellate decision in place.
The North Fork Rancheria maintains that federal law governs gaming on its trust land and that construction and operations remain legally supported under federal approvals issued in 2012 and reaffirmed in 2016.
Regional Impact
The casino is expected to generate more than 1,000 permanent jobs and significantly expand tourism activity along the Highway 99 corridor. The project has faced long-standing opposition from the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians and other groups, but construction continues uninterrupted.
Project Outlook
With signage now installed and exterior work advancing, the North Fork Mono Casino is entering one of its most visible stages of development. The tribe is expected to release additional construction updates throughout the summer as the project moves closer to its planned 2026 opening.
