The Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians plan to open a temporary casino on their land in Vallejo this month. But, what are the known facts and what do we not know?

Here is the information that has publicly announced by the Scotts Valley tribe regarding a temporary "preview casino":

CONFIRMED INFORMATION

• The temporary casino is confirmed.
  The tribe has stated that it will open a temporary "preview casino" on its land in Vallejo near I 80 and Highway 37.

• January 2026 is the targeted opening.
  The tribe's timeline is early 2026 with the initial target for January.

• Casino will be a modular structure.
  This will be a temporary casino which will operate during the constrcution of the $700 full-scale casino resort. It will be a small assembly of attached modular buildings.

• Gaming will be Class II type.
  Last November the U.S. District Court for DC ruled the Scotts Valley tribe can proceed with its casino plans while the U.S. Interior Department (DOI) reevaluates the gaming eligibility of the casino site.

  The tribe plans to operated Class II gaming rules in the temporary casino because Class II on tribal land is exempt from state and local jurisdictions.

  Class II gaming uses bingo-style slot machines and electronic games. Jackpots are paid from a pool of player bets and not from a house bank (Class III gaming).
