Tri-Cities 12 Tribes Casino Project Update (June 2026)

The proposed Tri-Cities 12 Tribes Casino, a major casino-hotel development planned by the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, remains in the federal review process with no construction approvals issued to date. The project, located on 177 acres in Pasco's King City area, is currently undergoing preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The EIS process began in April 2024 with the publication of the federal Notice of Intent, followed by a two-month public scoping period. Since then, the BIA has been evaluating environmental, economic, and cultural impacts associated with the proposed casino-hotel, which would include approximately 2,000 slot machines, 30 table games, a 200-room hotel, and multiple dining and entertainment venues.

Colville leadership has stated that the tribe remains committed to advancing the project, citing economic development and job creation as key motivations. The Tri-Cities region, one of Washington's fastest-growing metropolitan areas, is viewed by the tribe as a strategic location capable of supporting a large-scale resort.

However, the project continues to face strong opposition from the Yakama Nation and the Umatilla Tribes, both of which argue that the Pasco site lies within their traditional territories and could negatively impact their own gaming enterprises. These objections are part of the federal record and will be addressed in the EIS.

No Draft EIS has been released, and no timeline has been provided for its publication. After the Draft EIS is issued, the project must still complete the Final EIS, receive a federal Record of Decision, and obtain Washington Governor's concurrence before construction can begin.

For now, the Tri-Cities 12 Tribes Casino remains an active but unapproved proposal, with its next major milestone dependent on the release of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
