Hard Rock Bet Wins Big at U.S. Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to take an appeal case Monday, which challenged the Florida tribal compact that grants the exclusive right for all online sports betting to the Seminole Tribe. The tribe operates online betting statewide with the Hard Rock Bet application run by web servers in tribal land.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Case Tossed by Florida Supreme Court

March 22, 2024

The Florida Supreme Court denied a legal challenge to the mobile sports betting compact signed between the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Gov. Ron DeSantis. The filing was ruled the wrong type of petition for the case; however, the opponents can file a motion for a rehearing.

The opponents are two Florida parimutuel firms, West Flagler Associates and Bonita-Fort Myers Corporation. They claim there are two issues that invalidate the Seminole mobile betting agreement with the state.

1. The opponents say DeSantis and the Florida Legislature exceeded their authority by approving mobile sports betting that originates exclusively from computer servers on tribal lands. The Seminole Tribe counter argues that the legislature does have the authority to decide where online gambling originates.

2. The opponents say a 2018 state constitutional amendment requires a voter referendum to approve casino gambling outside of tribal land. Attorneys for the state have countered that sports betting is different from casino gambling and is not prohibited by the constitutional amendment.

The opponents to the Seminole's mobile sports betting have also taken this case to federal court and last month appealed it to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Florida' Hard Rock Sportsbook Appealed to U.S. Supreme Court

March 21, 2024

Two Florida pari-mutuel firms filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court to take up their case to stop the Seminole Tribe's Hard Rock sportsbook from accepting bets from non-reservation land. The two firms, West Flagler Associates and Bonita-Fort Myers Corporation, filed the petition on Feb. 8th, after an appellate panel agreed with the argument and reversed a federal district court decision.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida have the exclusive rights to operate online sports betting across the state since signing a new gaming compact with Gov. DeSantis in 2021. Supporters say that all online bets are "technically" received at web servers operating on tribal land.

In their Supreme Court appeal, the pari-mutuel plaintiffs claim that Florida could become an example for other states to expand online tribal gaming beyond reservation boundaries.

Hard Rock Bet is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Florida Surprise! Hard Rock launches online sports betting statewide

December 6, 2023

Yesterday the Seminole Tribe opened its online Hard Rock betting app to accept sports bets from everywhere across Florida. By afternoon, Hard Rock Bet advertiisements were telling viewers to download the app and begin placing betting.

Although legal battles remain, the Seminoles appear optimistic they are going to win the remaining court cases.

"I think we are always respectful to the legal process. So until a court makes a decision in a different direction, we move forward."

The surprise move preceeds the retail sports betting to launch tomorrow inside Seminole casinos. Tax revenues from sports betting is expected to pay the state $2.5 billion in its first five years.

Seminole Casinos to Launch Live Craps, Roulette and Sports Betting Dec. 7

This week the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Seminole Hard Rock announced a "new era of gaming" will launch at all six casino beginning Dec. 7th. The new games include live craps, roulette and retail sports betting.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood won two top awards this year in the 7th Annual Global Gaming Awards presented by Gambling Insider.

First Place: Land-Based Operator of the Year
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood is recognized for innovation and enhancement over nine other worldwide casino operator finalists. The casino also won this award in 2018.

Seminole Hard Rock opens $1.5B expansion and new guitar-shaped hotel

After 2.5 years of construction and $1.5B the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Hollywood opened its expanded casino and guitar-shaped hotel. The expansion opened offically on Oct. 24 and the hotel on Oct. 25. Seminole Hard Rock is located outside Fort Lauderdale and about 25 north of downtown Miami.

The 450-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower has 36 stories, 638 luxury rooms and totals 600,000 square-feet. Next to it is the new Oasis Tower with 7 stories and 168 rooms. The original hotel has 465 rooms. There is now a total of 1,271 guestrooms at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.

The expansion added 30,000-square-feet to expand the gaming floor to 195,000-suare-feet. There are now 3,100 total slot machines,200 table games and a new 45-table Poker Room.

Seminole Hard Rock announces new Daer South Florida entertainment complex

September 20, 2019

As the Guitar Hotel prepares to open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino next month, Hard Rock officials announced a major entertainment complex will also open as part of the same massive $1.5 billion expansion project.

The new Daer South Florida will a 44,000-square-foot entertainment complex featuring a poolside day club, a nightclub and a rooftop club.

The day club will be a 21,130-square-foot outside entertainment area with three pools. One will be a larger, resort-style pool and the others will be dipping pools. The area will feature hot tubs, 13 private cabanas, daybeds and VIP sections. Entertainment includes DJ booth with a 40-foot LED screen.

NIGHTCLUB

The nightclub provides 18,800 square feet of indoor entertainment space. It features a state-of-the-art sound system and a high-performance LED centerpiece. A huge foldiing glass window can open up the nightime sky.

ROOFTOP CLUB

The rooftop club is a 4,000-square-foot bar area with exceptional views surrounding the resort.

The grand opening of the $1.5B expansion project at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Oct 24 will include the opening of several new restaurants and bars. It will bring the total number of restaurants at Hard Rock to 19 and bars and lounges to 20.

Seminole Hard Rock Guitar-Shaped Hotel Opens Oct 24

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida will open its new guitar-shaped hotel tower on October 24, 2019. This 450 foot tall hotel addition will provide 638 new guest rooms and suites increasing the total to 1,274 rooms.

Room rates have not yet been announced, however, reservations will be accepted on July 24. Room sizes start at 515 square feet. The hotel includes a large, 40,000-square-foot luxury spa.

The new tower is part of a $1.5 billion expansion and renovation project at the Seminole Hard Rock. New construction is also adding more convention space. more convention space and more entertainment venues.

The Hard Rock Live stage will be expanded from 5,500 people to 7,000, and a new nightclub will be added. Dining options will increase with the addition of 14 new restaurants.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino needs 2,000 more workers for this expansion and has scheduled a job fair for June 4.

"Guitar Smash" ceremony at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood

November 28, 2018

On Tuesday a celebration was held at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The hotel casino hosted the brand's traditional guitar smash ceremony. A ceremony that is held at every Hard Rock location. This guitar smash celebration marked the completion of this phase of the current expansion project and the grand opening of the new Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood.

The new cafe can seat 250 guests. The kitchen has upgraded the equipment and features an open concept design. There is a new artisanal brick pizza oven, and room designated for meat grinding. Every table has a view of the triangle shaped island bar and stage.

The cost of the entire expansion project will be $1.5 billion to complete. By late 2019 the expansion project is scheduled to be completed.

Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood tops off guitar-shaped hotel

July 10, 2018

A topping off ceremony was held on Monday for the placement of the final beam for the new Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.

The design for the hotel is a giant guitar.

On the beam was an American flag, Florida state flag, and a Seminole tribal flag. The beam was slowly lifted into place while onlookers watched.

The cost of the building is $1.5 billion. This will be a large impact on the South Florida economy's growth.

It is hopeful by Hard Rock International that the new hotel will be completed by the end of next year. In February of 2020 the Hard Rock Stadium will be hosting Super Bowl LIV.

The property originally opened in 2004. In 2016 the property began an extensive renovation and refresh.

The new hotel tower is 450 feet tall. It will bring 806 more rooms for guests. It will bring the total amount of hotel rooms to 1,264. The tower will contain 638 of those new guest rooms. There will also be a seven story tall tower with another 168 guest rooms and suites. The tower will be located near the pool complex.

The casino will also be expanded. When finished there will be 178 table games. Some of those games will be baccarat and blackjack. There will also be 3,267 slot machines.

Hard Rock Live, an entertainment venue, will be adding more seating. 7,000 guests will be able to attend events when the project is completed.
