The Hard Rock Las Vegas Guitar Hotel reached a major construction milestone May 1 when construction crews placed the final beam on the 42-story, guitar-shaped tower during a topping-off ceremony The 660-foot tall hotel tower will anchor the redevelopment of the former Mirage site into a new Hard Rock-branded resort.

With the frame now topped off, construction is shifting more visibly to the tower's exterior and interior. The Guitar Hotel will be wrapped in two shades of blue glass, designed to match the renovated former Mirage tower next door and create a unified look across the property.
Earlir reporting indicated that nearly a dozen floors had already received blue glass panels as the tower climbed toward its final height, with facade crews working their way up the structure. While Hard Rock has not released a floor-by-floor breakdown of glass installation or interior completion, the topping-off milestone typically precedes a faster pace of enclosure and fit-out work.
Inside the 42-story tower
The Guitar Hotel is expected to house about 600 guestrooms within the tower itself, contributing to more than 3,700 rooms across the full Hard Rock Las Vegas property. Plans call for roughly 175,000 square feet of gaming space, over 200,000 square feet of meeting space, and a mix of new restaurants, lounges and retail.
With the structural frame in place, interior crews are advancing work on the lower levels, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins, corridor framing and service-core build-out. Those areas will set the pattern for the stacked guest-room floors that follow as the tower is enclosed.

Transition of The Mirage Hotel
The adjacent Mirage hotel will be transformed as part of the Hard Rock resort. These photo show the rooms totally stripped and ready for interior work. The windows will be replaced with the same blue glass that is covering the guitar hotel.
Timeline to opening
Hard Rock International expects the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas to open in the fourth quarter of 2027, following completion of the tower's exterior, installation of its LED "guitar strings" lighting system and full interior build-out. When finished, the resort is projected to employ about 6,000 people.
