Hard Rock Las Vegas Construction Update - August 2026
Las Vegas - August 1, 2026
Nearly two months after the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel reached its full structural height, the project has entered a visibly accelerated phase of exterior and interior build-out. The resort's transformation from the former Mirage into Hard Rock Las Vegas is now unmistakable across the Strip skyline, with new facade sections, LED lighting hardware, and round-the-clock construction activity marking the first major progress since the topping-off milestone.
Facade Installation Now Climbing the Tower
The most prominent change since early June is the rapid rise of the blue-glass exterior panels. Crews are installing two distinct shades of blue-one deeper, one lighter-to create the Hard Rock guitar's signature body and "string" tones. These panels now cover multiple vertical bands on the lower and mid-tower floors, giving the structure its first true visual identity.
The facade work is advancing in stacked sections, with new glass added almost daily. From street level, the tower's curvature and guitar profile are becoming increasingly defined as the enclosure climbs higher.
LED Guitar-String System Installation Begins
A major milestone in July is the start of installation for the LED guitar-string lighting system. Mounting hardware is now visible along the tower's front face, marking the first steps toward the illuminated strings that will run the full height of the building.
This system is expected to become one of the Strip's most recognizable nighttime features once activated, similar to the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel in Florida but scaled for Las Vegas.
Interior Build-Out Accelerates Across the Property
Inside the Guitar Tower, construction has transitioned into the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) phase. Guest-room framing is underway, with crews working floor-by-floor to build out corridors, service cores, and room layouts.
Meanwhile, the former Mirage resort structures are undergoing a full interior redevelopment. Activity is visible across the tri-tower complex, where Hard Rock is reconfiguring rooms, casino space, and back-of-house areas to align with the brand's design standards.
24/7 Construction Schedule in Effect
Hard Rock has shifted to a continuous 24/7 construction schedule, with crews working day and night to maintain momentum toward the resort's planned late-2027 opening. The around-the-clock pace reflects the dual challenge of building a new 42-story tower while simultaneously renovating the existing resort footprint.
Project Remains on Schedule
Despite the scale of the redevelopment, Hard Rock continues to target a late-2027 opening, and current progress aligns with that timeline. With the structural frame complete and facade installation accelerating, the project has moved into the most visually transformative phase of construction.
