All three Detroit casinos are undergoing expansions and makeovers. Each is building new 400-room hotels to attract casino visitors from distant towns.

GREEKTOWN CASINO

Owner Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians
Originally opened in November 2000, the Greektown Casino is expanding its gaming floor from 75,000 to 100,00 square feet.  It is also building a 30-story hotel with 400 rooms and a major buffet.

MGM GRAND DETROIT

Owner MGM Mirage
The MGM Grand opened its new 400-room luxury hotel  in October 2007.  It is a 17-story facility with rooms starting at $299 per night and penthouse suites renting up to $3,000.

MOTOR CITY CASINO

Originally opened December 1999
New expansion completed June 2007
Added 60,000-square feet to 100,000-square-foot casino.
Casino gaming: 2,500 slot machines and 70 table games
Hotel:  17-story hotel with 400 guest rooms from $300 and suites up to $8,000.
Theater: 1,200 seats
