Four new casinos planned for Puerto Rico

PONCE, Puerto Rico - The Associated Press  reported that 4 new casinos are opening in Puerto Rico and requests for another two are pending.

"Tourism officials say one casino is expected to open in 2009 in San Juan's newly renovated La Concha hotel. The others will open in Guayanilla, Cabo Rojo and Aguadilla, a western coastal town popular with surfers.

"Tourism official Hector Rivera says the casinos will add 800 machines across the U.S. Caribbean territory. He said Wednesday that island's 24 casinos bring in an estimated US$300 million (?190 million) a year.

"Rivera said Wednesday that requests to open a casino in Isla Verde and Ponce are pending.
