A second Desert Diamond Casino in West Valley is under construction in the White Tank Mountains at the southeast corner of Loop 303 and Northern Parkway west of Glendale. The $450 million construction project will feature a 184,000-square foot casino with 900 slot machines, 32 table games, a poker room and a sportsbook. The casino will include a fine dining restaurant, a casual restaurant and a food court. The opening is targeted for late 2024. A second stage of construction will add a hotel, conference center and amphitheater.

Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy

A new Desert Diamond Casino is under constructionin at Loop 303 and Northern Parkway near Glendale. The $450 million project has federal, state and local approvals.

The official goundbreaking event was held April 5, 2023. The first phase of construction will build a Class III gaming casino with 900 slots, 32 table games, a 16-table poker room and a sportsbook. The second phase will add a hotel, outdoor pool, conference center, and an amphitheater.

The new casino is the fifth Desert Diamond Casino owned by the Tohono O'odham Nation. The other four are Desert Diamond Casino West Valley in Glendale, AZ, Desert Diamond Casino Sahuarita in Sahuarita, AZ, Desert Diamond Casino Tucson in Tucson, AZ, and Desert Diamond Casino Why in Why, AZ.

Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks Construction | April 2024 Update

The Tohono O'odham Nation is building its fifth casino in the White Tank Mountain area bear Glendale. The casino will be named Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy.

As shown in the photo, the parking structure is mostly built with the final stage underway (left back). Half of the casino roofing is finished, and the other half of the roof is nearly finished. All the casino walls are up with exterior work on the walls underway.

Construction of the new casino in West Valley began last year on April 5, 2023 and will be completed later this year. The grand openeing is expected in late 2024. The projected cost is $450 million. The 184,000-square-foot casino will feature 900 slot machines, 32 table games, a 16-table poker room, and a sportsbook. The restaurants will include a Morton's Steakhouse, a casual dining restaurant, and a food hall with 4 venues. A hotel and conference center will be added in a later phase of construction.

New Desert Diamond Casino Update - Oct. 2023

Construction of the new $450 million Desert Diamond Casino in Glendale reached a major milestone last week when the last beam of the steel frame work was hoisted into place. The event was celebrated by Tohono O'odham leaders, casino officials, and the construction crew.

"Today is a major milestone for the Tohono O'odham Nation. We have come a long way in building a more prosperous future for our people and the West Valley, but just like this new casino, we still have much further to go."

Construction began last April and is expected to finish late next year. This is the first of two phases of construction. It will include a 184,000-square-foot casino with 900 slot machines, 32 table games including baccarat, blackjack, craps, and roulette, a 16-table poker room, a sportsbook, a fine-dining restaurant, a casual restaurant, and a 4-venue food hall.

A later phase of construction will add a hotel, outdoors pool, conference center and an amphitheater.

Tohono O'odham Nation held a private groundbreaking ceremony near Glendale on Wednesday to kick off construction of its fifth casino. The 110-acre site is north the Wildlife World Zoo at the southeast corner of Loop 303 and Northern Parkway.

The $450 million casino will have 184,000 square feet of Class III gaming, including 900 slot machines, 32 table games, 21 poker tables and a sports book. There will also be two restautants and a 4-venue food court, and a future hotel.

Construction will employ 5,500 workers and take 19 months to complete. Opening date will be near the end of next year.
