New Sky Ute Casino opens

IGNACIO, CO – The new Sky Ute Casino Resort and Conference Center opened today.
Its official grand opening will be on the weekend of Nov. 28-30 and feature
entertainment, fireworks, free prizes, and gaming promotions. "Our opening will
rival what they offer in Las Vegas," said Ben Fernandez, director of marketing
for the casino and resort.
The Sky Ute Casino is located 23 miles southeast of Durango on Hwy 172 which is
about 45 minutes from Pagosa Springs and one hour from Farmington, New Mexico.
It has a 45,000 square-foot gaming floor with 700 slot machines and 12 table
games plus a 180-seat bingo hall.
140 hotel rooms plus 6 luxury suites. All rooms feature a wet bar, refrigerator,
microwave, LCD television, and Pendleton wool blankets. The wool blankets are a
staple of Indian trading culture and will be sold in the hotel's shops. The
suites feature 52-inch LCD televisions and a smaller TV in the bathroom and
Sleep Number beds.
Serves a buffet and a menu of a variety of Native American and international
cuisines alternating during the week.
Fine dining and reservations only. Seats 25 to 30 people and features cuisine
Rose Coffee Bistro
Serves espresso, bagels, pastries, salads, sandwiches and fruit.
Shining Mountain Café
A 24-hour taqueria featuring Native American food, pizza, burgers and
Rolling Thunder Café
Serves appetizers, lettuce wraps, buffalo wings, and other casual and family
49 Sports Lounge
A 18,000-square-foot ballroom and event center for conferences, entertainment,
and live boxing.
A spa and salon offers two massage rooms, saunas, manicures, and pedicures. The
sundry and gift shop is open 24 hours daily.
RV PARK AND MINITURE GOLF
A 24-site RV park with WiFi Internet access, showers, and laundry facilities.
There is a nearby 18-hole miniature golf course.
24-lane AMF bowling center.
Shuttle service will be available to Durango, La Plata County Airport, Pagosa
Springs and Farmington.
