House defeats gambling expansion planSPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois House defeated a plan by Gov. Rod Blagojevich to raise $34 billion for statewide infrastructure by expanding gambling. The vote was 47-55. The proposed gambling included construction of a downtown Chicago casino, two new riverboat casinos, and slot machines for horse racing tracks.
