Des Plaines casino and entertainment complex is now named Rivers Casino
March 24, 2011
Rivers Casino will be the name of the casino being built at River Road and Devon
Avenue. The casino will open to guests this summer. The name is reflective of
its location near the Des Plaines River. This will be the first Chicago area
casino in over a decade to be built.
A job fair will be held on Friday April 8. Times will be from 9am to 4pm. The
event will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center (5555 N. River
Rd.), in Rosemont. It is estimated that the casino will be hiring 1,000 people.
The Rivers Casino will have an environmentally friendly theme throughout. It
will be the first casino in the nation to have LEED certification.
When completed, the facility will cost an estimated $445 million to build. It
will have a casino floor of 43,000 square feet. Guests will also have dining
options. Plans include several bars and restaurants. This includes the addition
of Hugo’s Frog Bar and Chop House prime steaks and chops.
