October Gaming Revenue Increase at Louisiana Casinos

November 20, 2015

Gaming facilities in Louisiana reported a revenue of $215.7 million for October. That amount is almost 11 percent higher than the same time last year with a reported amount of $194.6 million.

The report was released on Thursday by the state's police.

One reason for the increase was due to the riverboat casino Golden Nugget Lake Charles. The casino reported winnings of $20.2 million for last month. The casino opened December.

An increase of 31 percent was reported for Lake Charles. This is the largest casino market in the state.

A 13 percent increase was reported for last month at Baton Rouge riverboat casinos.

There was also an increase of 2.9 percent in the Shreveport-Bossier City market.

A 0.3 decline was reported for the New Orleans area.

A decrease of 5.1 percent was also reported for the Opelousas area.
