Gun Lake Tribe breaking ground on $157 million casino

After repeated roadblocks that delayed construction of the Gun Lake Casino, the Gun Lake Tribe have announced a ground-breaking ceremony for their new 83,000 square-foot casino is scheduled for next week September 17th at 10 a.m..

The first phase of construction has been scaled down from the original plan and will be completed within 10-to-12 months instead of the original schedule of 16-to-18 months.

"Given the current economic conditions, it makes sense for us to build this project in phases. This will allow us to bring jobs to our area sooner, and we look forward to planning and developing the next phase as the economy recovers," said Tribal Chairman D.K. Sprague.
