New Natchez Casino Approved by Gaming Commission

February 27, 2008

NATCHEZ, MS - The Mississippi Gaming Commission approved a plan for a new casino in Natchez on Roth Hill Road. The $50 million project will be built on pilings on the Mississippi River and include a hotel, two restaurants, a bar and lounge, and a park with outdoor entertainment and dining areas.

The developer is Natchez Enterprises, whose president Ted Doody said, "This is great news for us and for Natchez. This means the project meets all the Mississippi Gaming Commission's requirements. This vote, and the fact that we have financing in place, clears the way for the project. We expect construction to start next month."

The plan includes a $1 million donation to the city and $225,000 a year to a community development fund. It will also create 300 new jobs.
