New Aqueduct Casino narrows bidders

July 21, 2008

QUEENS, NY - Plans for a casino at the Aqueduct racetrack are finally proceeding after the state inspector generals office completed background checks and qualified three bidders for the project. A casino at Aqueduct was originally approved back in 2001 but financial and legal issues have delayed the project until now. With the backgrounds cleared, the process will move towards choosing one of the bidders to receive the casino license and develop the project.

"We now started to discuss a process by which we pick a winner," said Governor David Patterson. The three developers in contention are:
- Capital Play and Mohegan Sun
- Delaware North
- SL Green and Hard Rock Entertainment
