Downstream hotel grand opening Nov 22ndDownstream hotel grand opening Nov 22ndOctober 31, 2008 JOPLIN, MO – The Downstream Casino Resort, which opened its casino in July, will now accept a limited number of guests in its new 22-story hotel. John Berrey, business committee chairman of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, said it was a “soft opening”. The grand opening for the general public is scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd, and will feature Barry Switzer, former football coach for the University of Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys. The hotel has 222 rooms and 15 luxury suites with one and two-bedrooms. The penthouse hosts a VIP lounge. The lobby features a large, metal sculpture in the shape of traditional Quapaw pottery.
