Eastern Shawnee break ground on new Bordertown Casino
December 02, 2010
Ground has been broken on a new $82 million Boardertown Casino that will be
located near U.S. 60 and Business Highway 60. Chief Glenna Wallace of the
Eastern Shawnee announced plans on Tuesday for the new gaming facility.
The general contractor selected for the project is Red Stone Construction
The tribe feels that the new casino is a way to prepare their tribal citizens
for the future. This will give them opportunities. The cost of construction and
interest rates have gone down, they feel this is the ideal time to build. This
will provide the tribe with construction jobs and permanent jobs after the
building is complete.
