New expansion plan for Parx casino

Already the highest grossing casino in Pennsylvania, Parx casino is planning a
$100 million multiphase expansion. The build will take place over the next 3 – 5
Planned for a July opening, are 80 new table games. Including craps, blackjack,
roulette, and mini-baccarat. 20,000 square feet for another bar, 40 additional
table games, and 450 more slot machines by December. Then 30,000 square feet
will be built for a nightclub, 2 restaurants, and the remainder of the planned
4,000 slot machines and 140 table games will be added by next spring. A 400 room
hotel is also in the works. Construction will take place in the next 2 – 3
years. The casino is hopeful that the new expansions will create an additional
1,000 jobs in time.
Legislation on table games earlier this year prompted the expansion, as well as
the customer response.
Parx casino first opened in 2006. It has continuously outperforms other area
casinos. In mid March, the casino's slots gross revenue was $8.6 million. The
second highest revenue was Harrah's Chester Casino, which earned $6.2 million.
The owners of the Parx casino are hopeful that the casino will become one of the
country's slot powerhouses.
