Pennsylvania Casino Tax revenue is Higher than last year

September 20, 2011

Pennsylvania casinos reportedly earned over $8.8 million in tax revenue during August. The report was released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. This was based on the daily operation of 918 table games during the month.

$5.6 million in revenue was earned at Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino. 107 tables are operated there. Last year, the casino had 85 tables in operation and earned $4.2 million.

In Erie, Presque Isle Downs earned $1.8 million in August. The casino operates 44 game tables.

Table games have now been operating in the state for a year. This is the first time the state gaming board has been able to compare how the gaming revenue for the month compares to the same month of the previous year. In comparison to last year, the casinos have earned $20 million more. There are also 282 more tables in operation than last year.

The state earns 16% in tax on the table games.
