January 29, 2009 BELOIT, WI – Representative Tammy Baldwin has written a letter to Ken Salazar, the incoming secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior, to reconsider the Beloit casino application which was rejected by the last administration. Baldwin believes the decision by former interior secretary Dirk Kempthorne was not based on law but on his personal bias. She wants Salazar to know how strongly the community wants and needs the jobs the casino would create especially in light of the recent closing of the nearby General Motors factory.
