Harrah's Casino in Columbus, Nebraska opened for the first time yesterday at 10 am May 17, 2024. Harrah's is the first permanent commercial casino to open in the state.

The $75 million casino and racetrack is located off Highway 81 in northwestern Columbus. The new casino has 500 slot machines, 14 table games, a Caesars Sportsbook.The temporary casino, which has operated since June 2023, is now permanently closed.

Harrah's Nebraska will be the first of four permanent casinos that will soon open in the state in the coming months. Warhorse Casino Omaha is schedule to open in early August. Yhen, Warhorse Casino Lincoln will open in November, and Grand Island Casino Resort will open in the first quarter of 2025.

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has approved May 13th for the opening date of the new Harrah's casino and the racetrack in Columbus. The casino's grand opening will be at 10 am.

Harrah's Nebraska will be the first permanent casino to open in the state. The 28,000-square-foot casino will feature 500 slot machines, 14 table games, a Caesars Sportsbook. Amenities include Brew Brothers, a brewpub, and Wishbones Bar, located on the casino floor. The new one-mile racetrack will open on the same day as the casino.

Temporary casino opens at Ag Park in Columbus NE

June 14, 2023

The third Nebraska casino officially opened Monday at Platte County Ag Society Park in Columbus while construction continues on the permanent Harrah's Columbus, NE Racing & Casino at a new site, northwest of the city on U.S. Highway 81.

A ribbon cutting ceremony at the temporary casino was hosted Monday by officials from Caesars and Columbus Exposition and Racing.

"Opening the Columbus Casino is a huge milestone for us in the Harrah's Columbus project. With the tremendous support from the community of Columbus, we're proud to open our doors and welcome guests to the temporary facility for the first time."

Players at the temporary casino can bet on horse racing at Ag Park's simulcast and wager on a choice of 250 slot machines and electronic table games. Hours of operation are 9 AM to 1 AM daily.

Two other racetrack casinos currently operate in Nebraska. The first was WarHorse Casino in Lincoln, which opened its temporary casino Sept. 24, 2022. The second is Grand Island Casino Resort, which opened a temporary casino Dec. 27, 2022.

Harrah's temporary casino opens in Columbus, NE on June 12th

Last Friday the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission approved a gaming license to Harrah's Columbus NE to operate a temporary casino at Ag Park along U.S. 81 on the northwest corner of the city. The temporary casino will open June 12th and operate until construction is completed on the permanent casino sometime in late spring of 2024.

Harrah's temporary casino will feature 250 slot machines and electronic table games. Operating hours will be 9 AM to 1 AM daily. Harrah's permanent casino will feature 500 slot machines, 14 table games, a Caesars Sportsbook, a brewpub restaurant and a center bar.

This is the third casino license granted by the state commission. Previous state licenses were issued to the temporary casinos in Lincoln and in Grand Island.
