New Tucson Casino location gets federal approval

December 28, 2022

There is new speculation about the location for a third Pascua Yaquis casino following land approval by Congress. The potential site is the old Century Park 16 movie theater on Grant near Interstate 10, which was shut down more than a decade ago. A casino at that location would be the closest regional casino to downtown Tucson. The tribe has made no announcement regarding the location.

The Pascua Yaquis has owned the theater land for years. Now a new bill by Congress authorizes the site to be transferred into federal trust as tribal land for a casino.

The state-tribe gaming compact of 2021 also grants authorization to the Pascua Yaqui to build another casino in the Tucson area. The tribe currently operates two other casinos in Tucson: Casino Del Sol at 5655 West Valencia Road and Casino of the Sun at 7406 S. Camino del Oeste.
