VictoryLand opens 300-room hotel

SHORTER, AL - The new Oasis Hotel has opened at VictoryLand with hopes of bringing more visitors to what is promoted to be the largest bingo facility in the world. The 'casino' features 6,400 bingo machines which resemble slot machines and ranks the sixth-largest casino in the United States based on its number of machines.

The Oasis Hotel features 300 luxury guest rooms and suites with 32- inch LCD televisions, a cocktail bar and a coffee shop. Room prices start at $129 a night. There is an upscale restaurant named Whitfield's Steakhouse and next year there will be an 80,000 square-foot conference center.

"Our goal is to be four- diamond," said Oasis General Manager Rusti Price.
''We'd love to see a lot of people from Atlanta and other states," he said.
VictoryLand and The Oasis intend to offer the same amenities as luxury casinos in Biloxi without the longer drive.
