Burns Paiute Tribe wants new casino in Ontario, OR

Ontario, Oregon may become a new vacation spot. Plans were announced by the
Burns Paiute Tribe to build a destination resort. Plans include a hotel, casino,
convention center, and water park.
No official proposal has been made as of yet. Currently local residents are
discussing how the new project will change their community. Ontario’s Mayor, Joe
Dominick, is urging community leaders to consider the project. The project will
create jobs in a weak economy.
Two hours away is the Burns Paiute Tribe reservation. The city of Ontario would
have to agree to a land swap for the project to happen. Ontario would place land
in a federal trust. Approval for a land exchange will have to come from the
