Ground was broken today on a $170 million expansion project at the Pala Casino
Resort & Spa.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2019. The beginning of the
construction began with the swimming pool being demolished in the morning
ceremony.
A new tower will be added to the hotel. It will create 349 guest rooms. There
will also be a larger spa, a 400 space parking garage, a casino gaming floor,
and a aquatic playground. Renovations will also be done to casino's interior and
the current hotel.
When completed the hotel will offer 854 guest rooms. This will make it the
region's third largest casino resort.
The existing casino will be completely renovated. There will be changes in
walls, furniture, carpet, and seating. Changes will also be happening for some
of the restaurants to allow for them to also expand in size and offer more space
for entertainment and indoor and outdoor spaces.
This is the third expansion for the Pala Casino Resort & Spa. It opened in 2001.
The casino resort is owned by the Pala Band of Mission Indians. 400 construction
jobs have been created by the project. When completed there will be 200 new
permanent positions.
