The second request for potential casino locations for the joint casino project between the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes is due on Saturday.

The two tribes have joined together to develop a casino that would compete with the MGM Springfield casino resort.

Both tribes own casinos in the southeastern section of the state.

Previously a location at the airport was being considered. However that plan was rejected. An announcement was made last month that they would be looking for new locations and reopening the RFP process.

After the submissions are reviewed an announcement will be made for the locations of the potential sites. Each of the communities of where the proposed casino would be located will have public engagement campaigns.

Before the proposed casino project can be developed, state legislators need to give approval.
