Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians own Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino near Murphy in Cherokee County, NC, as well as Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, NC.

In April 2013 the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians first announced plans to build the $110 million Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino. The ground breaking was held October 15, 2013, and the grand opening was celebrated September 28, 2015.

Harrah's Valley River Casino & Hotel, is located on an 85-acre tract of tribal land in the western North Carolina mountains near U.S. 19/74. The location is an hour from Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort and two hours from Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Atlanta.

In October 2022 Harrah's Valley River Casino & Hotel began a $275 million construction project to expand the casino and add another hotel tower. The casino floor expansion was completed in May 2024 adding 25,000 square feet of new gaming space, 300 more slot machines, 8 more table games, and a World Series of Poker room.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino will add Ramsay's Kitchen

The $275 million expansion project, which is under construction at Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel, will include a new Ramsay's Kitchen restaurant similar to the one at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, NC. The restaurant will open in early 2025.

"We have seen much success with our food hall over at Harrah's Cherokee, so we thought we'd bring another option to guests of the region with my long-time partners at Caesars Entertainment. I love to customize menus inspired by my travels but with local influence and I'm excited to bring that to Harrah's Cherokee Valley River guests next year."

Ramsay's Kitchen will be located on the twelfth floor of the new Valley Hotel Tower, which is part of the expansion project. The 12,000 square-foot restaurant will accommodate 190 guests with both indoor and outdoor seating and surrounded with views of the beautiful Nantahala National Forest. Other features include a large wine cellar, a 19-seat bar, and a private dining area.

Ramsay features an open exhibition kitchen renowned for its Beef Wellington, pan-seared scallops, jumbo lump crab cakes and the chef's signature sticky toffee pudding.

The expansion project at Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is building the Valley Hotel Tower with 286 rooms, expanding the casino gaming floor with another 25,000 square feet, and adding a parking deck for 1,700 vehicles. The completion date will be in the first quarter of 2025.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River | $275M Expansion Nears Completion

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel issued a press release Wednesday to announce the progress achieved so far in construction of its new Valley Tower. The tower will add 296 rooms, a year-round indoor pool, a 9,600 square-foot salon and spa, and dining venues including a 12,000 square-foot rooftop restaurant.

Room bookings for the new Valley Tower can be made online today for dates beginning March 1, 2025. Earlier dates may become available for a limited number or new rooms.

The new Valley Tower will feature 296 rooms, an indoor pool, and dining venues. A rooftop restaurant, a spa, and a retail shop will open later in 2025. Reservations will soon be accepted for occupancy in early 2025.

The hotel tower is the last phase of the $275 million expansion project that began two years ago. In May of this year, the first phase of the project was completed when an expanded casino floor was opened. The new gaming space added 23,359 square feet, 300 slot machines, 8 table games, a WSOP poker room, and a center bar.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River reached a major milestone this month in the construction of its new 12-story hotel tower. The final beam was placed atop the steel-frame hotel structure and celebrated with a Topping Off Ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Harrah's Cherokee officials, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians leaders, construction representatives, and project team members. Each attendee signed the steel beam during the ceremony. An American flag and a tradition pine tree were attached to the beam before it was hoisted into place.

Construction of the hotel will be completed late this year. The hotel will have 296 rooms, a rooftop restaurant, a spa, and a fitness center. The rooftop restaurant will be 12,000 square-feet with amazing views, a 12-seat bar and a wine cellar. The spa will be 9,600 square-feet with six treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge, and a salon.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Completes Casino Expansion

The first phase of a $275M expansion project at Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino has been completed with the opening of 25,000 square feet of new casino space. The gaming floor size is now 75,000 square feet and features 1,350 slot machines, 60 table games, a new World Series of Poker room with ten tables and a casino bar with seating for 22.

The expansion project at Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino continues with the construction of a 12-story hotel tower, which will open late this year. The new hotel will include 296 rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness center and a rooftop restaurant. There will also be a new parking garage which will also open late this year. The new structure will have 1,700 parking spaces and a sky bridge to the hotel.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River is owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Casino
The new casino space is set to open later this spring. The expansion will add 23,359 square feet to the casino floor, 300 more slot machines, 8 more table games, a WSOP poker room, and a center bar. This will be the largest casino floor in North Carolina.

Hotel
The new 12-story hotel tower will open late this year. Construction has reached the tenth floor. The interior framing crews are working on the first six floors.

Exterior
Exterior work continues on the main entry. The new parking deck will open this summer.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel remains fully open during this construction period.

The casino expansion will be completed next summer along with the parking deck. The expanded casino will be 25,000 square feet larger with 300 new slot machines, 8 more table games, and 'World Series of Poker' poker room. The new parking deck will connect directly to the casino with a covered walkway.

In early 2025 the new hotel tower will open. This 296 room addition will include a rooftop restraurant with indoor and outdoor seating, an indoor pool, fitness center, and full-service spa and salon.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel broke ground last week on a $275 million construction project to double the size of its casino and hotel. The current size is 311,011 square feet. The expansion will add 315,158 square feet with new casino space, a hotel tower, spa, rooftop restaurant and more parking.

The groundbreaking event was held one day after celebrating the seventh anniversary of the casino, which opened Sept. 28, 2015.

A 12,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guest capacity includes 250 indoor dining seats, 30 outdoor terrace seats and a 25-seat bar.

Cherokee approves $275 million expansion of Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy

The Cherokee Tribal Council has approved a $275 million master plan to add a second hotel tower and more gaming at Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy. A council resolution was passed July 8th.

Details of the plan have not yet been released, however, Harrah's Regional Vice President for Marketing Brian Saunooke said the plan includes "an additional hotel tower, a new restaurant, a hotel lobby cafe, a spa and indoor pool, additional gaming space and additional parking".

An architectural has been selected to develop a conceptual design and prepare a cost analysis.
